Tell Pro Grade 2 Institution Lever Lock - US26D Finish
This lock keeps a room controlled from both sides. The Tell LC2600 Series institution lever lock keeps both the inside and outside levers locked at all times. A key is required to enter or exit, so only authorized staff can open the door in either direction.
It’s ANSI Grade 2, rated to 400,000 cycles, and finished in US26D satin chrome (BHMA 626). It installs in a standard 161 door prep with a non-handed lever.
Important egress notice: This lock does not allow free exit. A key is required to leave the room. Institution function locks are restricted by building and life-safety codes, including NFPA 101 and the IBC, and are only permitted in specific settings such as healthcare, behavioral health, and detention facilities. Confirm with your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) before installing.

Institution Function
Both levers are always fixed (locked). A key in either lever retracts the latch. There is no free egress.
Typical applications: behavioral health and psychiatric rooms, medication rooms, secure storage within supervised facilities, and controlled areas where occupants should not exit without staff, where permitted by code.
FAQ
Can someone inside the room get out without a key?
No. Both levers are always locked. A key is required to exit. For free exit, choose the storeroom or classroom function.
Is this lock legal on my door?
It depends on the occupancy and the door’s location. Locks that prevent free egress are only allowed in specific settings under NFPA 101 and the IBC. Always confirm with your local fire marshal or AHJ before installing.
What’s the difference between institution and storeroom?
A storeroom lock is locked outside but always free inside. An institution lock is locked on both sides.
Can both cylinders be keyed alike or master keyed?
Yes. Both Schlage C keyway cylinders can be rekeyed and master keyed to an existing Schlage C system.
