Tell Pro Grade 2 Clutch Entrance Lever Lock - US26D Finish
This is an entry lock built to take abuse. The Tell LC2600 Series clutch entry lever lock has the everyday convenience of a push-button entry function, plus a freewheeling clutch that protects the lock from forced entry and vandalism.
When the door is locked, the outside lever spins freely instead of resisting. Kicking, hanging on, or forcing it with a pipe or pry bar gets nowhere. Standard rigid levers break internally and fail under that treatment. A clutch lever keeps working.
It’s ANSI Grade 2, rated to 400,000 cycles, and finished in US26D satin chrome (BHMA 626). It installs in a standard 161 door prep with a non-handed lever, so one SKU fits any door swing.
Why Pros Choose the Clutch Version
- Freewheeling clutch. The locked outside lever spins under force, protecting the latch and internal parts.
- Fewer callbacks. Broken lever springs and snapped spindles are the most common failure on high-traffic entries, and a clutch prevents both.
- Push-button entry function. Lock from inside with the button and open from outside with a key.
- ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000, Grade 2. Tested to 400,000 cycles.
- UL/ULC listed for 3-hour fire doors.
- ADA compliant (ANSI A117.1).
- Non-handed lever. Fits left- or right-hand doors.
- Rekey-friendly cylinder. 6-pin solid brass, Schlage C keyway, which can be pinned down to 5-pin.
- Limited lifetime warranty from Tell Manufacturing.
Entry Function (81)
The outside lever is locked and unlocked by key or by the inside push-button. The inside lever always allows free exit. When locked, the outside lever freewheels.
Ideal for: apartment and multifamily entries, office suites, schools, retail back doors, public-facing entrances, and any door with a history of lever damage or forced entry.
FAQ
Should I choose the clutch or the standard entry lock?
Choose the clutch for any door that sees rough use, public traffic, or a history of vandalism. Choose the standard version for low-abuse interior doors where cost matters most.
What does a freewheeling clutch do?
When the lock is engaged, the outside lever turns freely without moving the latch. Force applied to the lever is absorbed instead of breaking parts or opening the door.
What’s the difference between entry and storeroom?
Entry has an inside push-button, so the door can be left unlocked. Storeroom is always locked from outside.
Can I rekey it to match my other locks?
Yes. The Schlage C keyway rekeys to any existing Schlage C system.
Is it rated for fire doors?
Yes. It is UL/ULC listed for 3-hour fire-rated openings.
