Tell Pro Grade 2 Clutch Classroom Lever Lock - US26D Finish
A classroom lock built for hallways full of students. The Tell LC2600 Series clutch classroom lever lock gives you key-only control from outside, with no inside button to tamper with. Its freewheeling clutch protects it from the hanging, kicking, and forcing that ruin standard levers in schools and public buildings.
When locked, the outside lever spins freely instead of resisting force. The latch and internal parts stay intact, the door stays secure, and you avoid callbacks for sagging levers and broken springs.
It’s ANSI Grade 2, rated to 400,000 cycles, and finished in US26D satin chrome (BHMA 626). It installs in a standard 161 door prep with a non-handed lever.
Why Pros Choose the Clutch Version
- Freewheeling clutch. The locked outside lever spins under force, protecting the latch and internal parts.
- Built for high-abuse areas. Holds up in school corridors, gyms, and public-facing rooms where standard levers fail.
- Key-controlled outside lever. Only a keyholder can lock or unlock it, with no inside button to defeat.
- Can be left unlocked during the day. Unlock it for open access, then lock it with a key at the end of the day.
- Free egress. The inside lever always opens the door, meeting life-safety and fire code requirements.
- ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000, Grade 2. Tested to 400,000 cycles.
- UL/ULC listed for 3-hour fire doors.
- ADA compliant (ANSI A117.1).
- Non-handed lever. One SKU covers left- and right-hand doors.
- Rekey-friendly cylinder. 6-pin solid brass, Schlage C keyway, which can be pinned down to 5-pin and master keyed.
- Limited lifetime warranty from Tell Manufacturing.
Classroom Function (84)
A key in the outside lever locks or unlocks the outside lever. The inside lever is always free for exit. There is no inside push-button or turn. When locked, the outside lever freewheels.
Ideal for: school classrooms, gyms, locker rooms, labs, training rooms, community centers, and any staff-controlled door that sees rough use.
FAQ
Should I choose this or the standard classroom lock?
Choose the clutch version for schools, gyms, and public-facing doors where levers take abuse. Choose the standard version for low-traffic offices and conference rooms where cost matters most.
Can I lock this door from inside the room?
No. The classroom function locks from the outside with a key only. If you need to lock the door from inside during an emergency, choose a classroom security (intruder) function lock instead.
What does a freewheeling clutch do?
When locked, the outside lever turns freely without moving the latch. Force on the lever is absorbed instead of breaking parts or opening the door.
Can it be master keyed to our building system?
Yes. The Schlage C keyway rekeys and master keys to any existing Schlage C system.
Is it rated for fire doors?
Yes. It is UL/ULC listed for 3-hour fire-rated openings.
