The new product from the lock boss is the most thrilling lock rekeying tool you've ever seen in your career as a locksmith. And I'm referring to the Mullet - 2 in 1 Plug Follower and Cylinder Cap Removal Tool.
It is called the mullet tool because it has a plug follower in its front and a cylinder cap removal tool in the rear.
You must admit how awesome it is. Two devices put in one to give you max efficiency, and it has a cool name, but I'll let you be the judge. Now the mullet can replace your standard plug follower like this one.

You might be asking, "Why?", it is because your standard cylinder cap removal tool is made of pot metal while the mullet is made of aluminum, something that will last much longer.
One of the best parts about this tool is that it's a two-in-one, so we're going to take off the cylinder cap on the back, and then we're going to use the mullet again a plug follower to get the cylinder out to rekey it.
Here's a quick and simple tutorial on how the mullet works.
Now, if you notice, it's hollow down here, so any length of tailpiece that you're going to encounter will not give you a hard time.
So, I'll go ahead and put it right here on the back, put it on, and twist it after that, set the pin, and spring off to the side.
Put the key in, grab the mullet again, and use it as a plug follower. Then put it back together.
Now, you notice when I was doing that on the end of this plug follower on the mullet, you're going to see this cut out. This cut-out is used when you need to rekey cylinders, like mortise cylinders. The back where the tailpiece sticks out a little bit is where you will put the cut out at the back of the mullet. That way, you'll easily be able to put it over and still rekey it.
