Locksmith Tip | Rekeying a Lock and you forgot a Plug Follower? No Problem

Have you ever found yourself on a job site when you're getting ready to rekey a cylinder, and you realize that you forgot your follower, or the size of follower you have compared to the plug diameter is different? Then, your follower is not going to work.

Here's how you can get it done with items found in your shop or van:

Sharpie - if the diameter of the plug here is relatively small.

Drill bits - if a sharpie doesn't work.

HOW TO USE IT

Treat one of these items as a regular follower. Start by getting an item (sharpie or drill bits) that has the same diameter as the plug you need to remove to rekey. Once you do that, push it through.

That's how you get it done. Thanks, and we'll see you next time!
