We are adding two keys to a 2016 Nissan Maxima without a key that works. The keys to being programmed are an OEM key and an Ilco look-alike replacement prox key using the SmartPro. Hook up some jumper cables to make sure we have good power when we go through the procedure. Let's go ahead and get started.
Get to Vehicle Selection. We'll go down to Nissan, Maxima, and 2016-2020 prox.
Go and hit Connect, then switch the ignition off and hit OK. Get hazards on, click OK.
Proceed to Program prox and hit the play button in the bottom left.
'Warning: Do not depress the brake pedal. Ensure all doors are closed. A maximum of 4 keys allowed to be programmed. If a programmed key with RKE is available, then press the unlock button, use Key #1.' -- hit OK.
'All keys will be deleted. Are you sure you want to continue?' choose Yes. Wait as it's requesting access. There will be a beep before Access Granted appears.
'Press and hold Start/Stop until the ignition switches on.' Do it before hitting OK.
'Make sure ignition is off.' and click OK. 'Press and release START/STOP button with the logo of the first prox key and keep the prox next to the START/STOP button. The dash should beep, and the security light should blink 5 timers.' Follow this and hit OK afterward.
'Press and release, START/STOP button to switch the ignition off.' Do and click OK.
'Do you want to program more keys?' click Yes to program the aftermarket one.
Note: Do the same process. The second time will start at 'Press and release START/STOP button with the logo of the first prox key and keep the prox next to the START/STOP button. The dash should beep, and the security light should blink 5 timers.'
There we go just like that! We're good. Let's try the newly programmed keys as well as their buttons.
So, we now have two working prox keys for this 2016 Nissan Maxima, thanks to the SmartPRO; if you noticed, there's a lot of like moving around. There's a lot of stuff going on, but we were able to do it. Sometimes you have to go with it. Thank you, guys, and we'll see you next time!
