Key programming a 2015 Subaru Legacy starts with getting the right replacement. We duplicate one using a remote head key and we're going to use the Autek IKey820 Key Programmer to program it.
Check the list of vehicles the Autek can cover. If it is listed, begin the programming by connecting the Autek IKey820 to the OBD 2 port
.
When you have everything set up, the first step is to go to ‘Key Program’ and select ‘Subaru.’ Then we will select the Legacy, 2015 and press OK.
Choose ‘Key & Keyless & Remote’, and put the new key and turn ignition on. With this procedure, you can program the new key to the system without erasing the existing key. Please ensure you have at least one key to be added.
Check how many total keys are in there, and go to ‘Program Key.’A message like, ‘Insert a programmed key and turn ignition on’, meaning you need to pull the inserted key and grab the programmed key. Put it in and turn it on. Turn the ignition off and remove key and insert a new key and turn ignition on. To let you know that the key has been programmed successfully, ‘Success’ message will pop up.
After programming the key, you have to program the buttons separately. Go to ‘Program Remote’ and press the lock button once then the unlock button once.
For each programming done, you should test out the keys and be sure to hear the locks cycle. Compare the function of your newly programmed keys with the original key to be sure that everything is still working. You can try to start your ignition and controls with the new programmed key to ensure it is working the same.
And that's how you program a remote headed key to this 2015 Subaru Legacy. It's really crazy how simple this machine is to use and how easy the steps are to follow. We really like how the Autek IKey820 guides you through each step to make sure you have the right key in at the right time.
