Key Programming | 2015 Ford F-150 Gets a Flip Key W/ Smart PRO!
Key programming a 2015 Ford F-150 starts with getting the right replacement. The vehicle uses the flip remote, so we grabbed an Ilco look-alike replacement, and we duplicated the high-security key of the 2015 Ford F-150, as you can see pictured below.
To begin the programming, we have the Smart Pro, which is connected to the OBD2 port, and we also have the 'MYKEYS Pro' for all the information we need about this vehicle.
Now, when you have everything set up, the first step is to go to 'Vehicle Selection' as you can see below, and select 'Ford.' Then we will select the F-150, 2015-2020 blade option. The MYKEYS Pro app can give you all the tips, tricks, and information you need to navigate the selection process.
When you have completed the selection, put the key into the ignition. The Smart Pro device should display a connection message like the one below.
Hit Connect, Switch ignition on, and then add keys, according to the instructions on the Smart Pro device. With this procedure, you can program the flip key to the system without erasing the existing key. Please ensure you have at least one key to be added.
When the Smart Pro indicates that the key has been programmed, take your existing key out. Then put the new key into the ignition, ready to get programmed. A security bypass message for a 10-minutes wait will pop up before you see a message like, 'Keys programmed: 4.' Then you can switch the ignition off and then switch it back on with the key to be programmed. The Smart Pro device will load and let you know that the key has been programmed successfully.
For each programming done, you should test out the keys' and be sure to hear the locks cycle. Compare the function of your newly programmed keys with the original key to be sure that everything is still working. You can try to start your ignition and controls with the new programmed key to ensure it is working the same.
And that's how you add an additional Ford Flip Key to this 2015 Ford F-150. It's super nice when you can bypass that 10-minute wait for programming because that puts a strain on the battery so, you want to make sure you have your jumper box with you. Being able to bypass the wait makes quick and easy work of the key programming procedure. We really like how the Smart PRO guides you through each step to make sure you have the right key in at the right time. If you have any comments or questions about this procedure, let us know in the comments below!
