To use a Schlage privacy pin, insert it into the designated hole on the interior side of the door xxxx or lever to engage the privacy lock. This allows you to lock the door from the inside for privacy, such as in a bathroom or bedroom, and can usually be unlocked from the outside using a small tool or emergency key.
