To test the ignition lock cylinder, insert the key and try turning it to each position (off, accessory, on, start) to check for smooth operation and if the engine starts. If the key is difficult to turn, gets stuck, or does not start the vehicle, the cylinder may be faulty. Additionally, check for any play or looseness in the cylinder when the key is inserted.
